University of Exeter Golf Club

The University of Exeter Golf Club (EUGC) offers one of the most established university golf programmes in the UK, finishing 1st in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) rankings in 2013 and 2015.

The University of Exeter currently field five sides throughout the academic year, all of which compete within the BUCS programme. The 1st team competes in Premier South (the highest division within the BUCS Golf); the second and third teams in Western 1A; and fourth and fifth teams in Western 2A. Whilst performance is a massive driving force of the University of Exeter Golf Programme, the club also pride themselves on providing playing opportunities for all club members. With weekly match-play fixtures in semester one and two, alongside individual stroke-play events throughout the year, the golfing calendar provides our athletes with competitive golf all year round.

The Vic Ambler University Golf Centre is at the heart of the sports park boasting a world-class short game practice facility that is accessible for all – members, beginners and students. Indoor practice facilities are used for individual coaching and technical analysis.

The R&A Scholarship Programme

The R&A Foundation offers bursaries to individuals in full-time education, in addition to the University of Exeter sport scholarship scheme.

Their mission statement is: ‘To identify and assist the development of student golfers of international standard during their course of study.’

The scheme is open to men and women of any nationality who have a minimum handicap of +1 for men and 3 for women.

In addition, student golfers who receive an R&A Foundation bursary have the opportunity to participate in the R&A Foundation tournament at the Old Course at St. Andrews in April each year.

We operate a full pre-season training & competition programme including a training camp (2nd-4th September 2016), entry into the Stirling Invitational, various skills sessions and strength and conditioning work.

Returning performance players as well as those identified from other BUCS teams are invited to attend, as well as incoming first year students of the appropriate standard. If you are short-listed for a Sport Scholarship, you will be expected to attend our pre-season training as the final part of your scholarship screening process.
