Astro pitches

There are four high-quality astro turf pitches at the Sports Park which are used by our student sports clubs, local leagues and casual users. Our different pitches incorporate three different surfaces which have been developed to provide an optimal playing / training environment for different sporting activities. All of our astro-pitches are less than five minutes walk from the Sports Park reception and are flood-lit.

Water-based hockey pitch

The water-based pitch is reserved exclusively for hockey training and matches and has hosted some of our biggest hockey events including the annual varsity and national league fixtures. The pitch was resurfaced in the summer of 2012 to an Olympic standard and utilises four water-canons to keep it in top condition.

An adjacent pavilion, opened in February 2013, features eight team changing rooms (two with direct access to the pitch), toilets, showers and a large spectator viewing platform for our high-profile matches. The pitch is fully flood lit and approved by England Hockey.

Sand-based astro pitch

Our sand-based astro pitch features a high quality all-weather carpet that is suitable for a variety of different sporting activities. Throughout the year the pitch is marked with hockey, lacrosse and 5-a-side lines with a dividing net allowing players to book a quarter, half or whole pitch. Hockey, 5-a-side and 11-a-side goals are available on this pitch which is flood-lit.

3G rubber crumb pitch

Newly resurfaced in 2014, our 3G rubber crumb pitch is primarily used as an all-weather rugby training facility. It's also very popular for friendly football matches, american football training, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee. A curtain across the centre of the pitch means that a half or whole pitch can be booked - as well as a quarter pitch for 5-a-side football. The pitch is fully flood-lit and a hugely popular facility.

M.U.G.A

Our multi-use games areas was completed in 2013 and is popular with students and community members who want a friendly kick-about. The enclosed, quarter-size pitch features a 3G rubber crumb surface, built-in 5-a-side goals and is fully flood-lit.

Squash courts

The Sports Park is home to four squash/racquetball courts, each equipped with high quality lighting and heaters. The courts are used by the University of Exeter Squash Club for training and competitions and are also available for recreational hire.

Sports hall

A central hub at the Sports Park, the double sports hall provides a superb indoor space that can be used by elite and social players. Many of the University’s British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) matches take place in the hall on a Wednesday afternoon. Large group workout sessions and fitness classes also take place in the sports hall.

The sports hall can be used for any number of activities, but has markings for:

• 8 badminton courts
• 3 volleyball courts
• 2 netball courts and 1 show court
• 2 basketball courts
• 2 five-a-side football pitches

Alongside these sports, the Sports Hall can also accommodate a variety of other activities including Indoor Hockey, Futsal, Korfball, Ultimate Frisbee, Indoor Athletics and Handball. Individual courts and pitches can be booked socially or by clubs.

A retractable central divide in the hall also means that whole or part of the hall can be booked for recreational activities or corporate events. This facility is ideal for conferences and major events.

Sir Christopher Ondaatje Devon Cricket Centre

Opened in 2009, the £ 2 million Sir Christopher Ondaatje Devon Cricket Centre offers players from the university and the wider community an opportunity to improve their game.

The indoor facility accommodates the Devon Cricket Board (DCB) and is used by the University of Exeter's student cricket club, the Exeter College Academy, the DCB indoor cricket league and many other local clubs.  Facilities include:

• Four full-length indoor nets (38 metres)
• 800 square metre indoor playing area
• Video analysis
• Bowling machines
• 1750 lux lighting
• High performance flooring system
• One to one and group coaching sessions are available for children and adults

Private hire

The Centre is available for private hire and can be booked on a pay-and-play basis or as a regular block booking. The centre is available for:

• General public sessions
• Indoor six-a-side games
• Hire by cricket clubs, teams and companies

Exeter Tennis Centre

Exeter Tennis Centre is home to some of the best facilities in the South West. Over £3million has been invested in tennis at all levels over the last 15 years, including the construction of 10 indoor courts. Our facilities include:

• Four indoor Acrylic courts
• Six indoor Matchplay 2 courts
• Two outdoor Macadam courts at Mardon Hall

Vic Ambler Golf Centre

Located at the University of Exeter's Sports Park on the Streatham Campus, the Vic Ambler Golf Centre covers an area of 50m x 30m and features:

• 200m² Pro-tour standard practice green
• Eco bunker
• 120m² putting green
• Two driving nets

An exclusive combination of synthetic greens, bespoke landscaping, and a multitude of tee and hole positions, allows up to six players to practice an almost limitless variety of shots.

The facility is available to use on a pay-as-you go basis, with membership also available.

Prices

The Centre is open to anyone from the community to come and use on a pay-as-you go basis. 1 hour of use of the facility is £6, open to members and non-members.

Cornwall House Outdoor Pool

The outdoor pool is open from April to October. Open seven days a week during the summer months, our four lane, 25 metre outdoor swimming pool is set in a large grass and patio area, heated to a constant 29ºc and staffed by qualified lifeguards making it great for relaxing during those warm summer days.

Within the pool facility, we also have 6 changing room lockers, 2 toilets, 3 open showers and 12 small storage lockers.
