Alison Davidson

Director of Sport and Grounds

Prior to becoming Director of Sport in 2014, Alison had worked for a number of organisations within the leisure sector, extensively with the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) since 2002, becoming Regional Director in 2004 and then Divisional Business Manager of the South and West Region in April 2013. Alison has been involved in managing national programmes of the NGB and overseeing strategic delivery across the south of the Country.

As Director of Sport, Alison leads the University of Exeter Sport team, overseeing each department and working closely with the directors and assistant directors of each area.

Charlotte Hale

Head of Performance

Charlotte oversees the management of the Sport Scholarship and High Performance Programmes at the University. Charlotte works closely with our key partners, service providers and the Directors and Coaches of the university's focus sports to develop and deliver the High Performance Programme. Charlotte has specific responsibility for the high performance aspects of Hockey, Netball, Sailing, Cricket and Lacrosse. She is also the strategic lead for the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) at the University.

Charlotte graduated from the University of Exeter in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, before obtaining an MSc in Sport Psychology in 2004. Charlotte spent several years working in applied mental health and research roles alongside playing and coaching netball at a representative level.

Charlotte leads on the recruitment, academic liaison, scholarship and lifestyle aspects of our programmes. She holds a particular interest in the wellbeing and lifestyle management of elite sportsmen and women, and in particular the dual-career demands and employability of the student-athlete. She holds a Level 3 qualification in Talented Athlete Lifestyle Support (TALS) and is a registered practitioner on the Register of Personal Development Practitioners in Sport (RPDPS).

An Ex-Welsh international netballer, Charlotte coached Exeter Netball Club senior 1st team at regional level alongside the university high performance Netball squad between 2007 and 2015. Charlotte has also worked as an apprentice Coach for Team Bath’s NTL squad, English Universities Assistant Coach/Team Manager and was the head talent scout for England Netball within Devon until 2015. She now provides mentoring for aspiring student-coaches and in particular our university coaching scholars.

Paul Kirby

Senior Sports Operations Manager

Having always had a passion for sport I chose to work in leisure from an early age. I have worked as a manager for 25 years in the leisure industry in a variety of roles and contrasting facilities. I have managed, including fitness suites, sports halls, swimming pools and fun pools, catering facilities, squash courts, bowling, play, studios and outdoor pitches. I love to play sport and my role enables me to facilitate other participating in the sports they love.

Charlotte Raymont

Student Sport Manager

Charlotte graduated from the University of Gloucestershire in 2002, with an Honours degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences. After graduating, she worked within the leisure industry as a swimming teacher, lifeguard and gym instructor. Charlotte then went on to work for the sports development department at the University of Plymouth, until she joined the University of Exeter as Athletic Union Manager in 2005.
