First class debut for Dominic Goodman

On his first class debut for Gloucestershire, 2nd year student Dominic Goodman (BA International Relations) took his maiden first class wicket and helped Gloucestershire to bowl out Somerset for 312 on day 1 with Gloucestershire eventually winning by 8 wickets.

This is the first time Gloucestershire have met Somerset in the County Championship since 2007, with the match starting on Thursday 15th April and being played at Taunton. Getting a first class call up for the first time in place of the injured Josh Shaw, Dominic took his chance and put out a fantastic debut performance.

Reflecting on his debut Dominic commented:

“To debut for Gloucestershire was a huge privilege, and I loved every minute of my first 4 day game. Winning against our local rivals Somerset was awesome, and the group of lads we have is fantastic - the victory was a testament to all the hard work of everyone in the club.  I can't wait to be around the guys at Gloucestershire for the coming months, and to keep pushing for a place in the 1st team. This summer is so exciting and I'm thrilled to be able to continue training and playing with the boys in Bristol.”

University of Exeter Head of Cricket Ruan Louw added:

Dom has been making steady progress throughout his time at Exeter. It is a real credit to him, the way that he has applied himself and has put in the effort to see him realise his potential and he is reaping the fruits of his labour. His involvement in our program has only made us stronger and has made other players realise that the opportunity is out there. I very much look forward to Dom's future endeavours in first class cricket and believe he will have much success in his career.”
