Olivia Parsons - High Performance scholar
Exeter Tennis Duo represent GB Universities in close fought matches against Harvard and Yale.
Sofie Woon and Olivia Parson were selected to compete for GB Universities against a select Harvard and Yale team in a friendly match held at Loughborough University last week. There were two Harvard players and two Yale players making up the touring team, there were singles and doubles matches played in a tightly fought fixture.
Sofie commented on the game “I won my singles in a really close match that lasted 3 hours. 7-6 3-6 10-7 against a girl from Yale. Unfortunately lost the doubles where I played with Olivia Parson, overall we lost 4-2.”
The competition was reported as “Thrilling and competitive, with the GB Men’s team winning 4/3 and Harvard/Yale taking home a 4/2 win in the Women’s!”
Charlotte Wallace, Tennis Programme Manager, said that “this was a great experience for both Sofie and Liv to be selected to represent GB Universities. A brilliant opportunity to play in this type of environment which can only help develop their tennis. During the BUCS season Sofie’s had a lot of close matches which I am sure gave her the confidence to bring a win and this in turn will continue to give her confidence going into the new season. For Liv (Olivia Parson) to get the experience after 3 great years of University tennis is fantastic and thoroughly deserved, she has worked consistently hard over her time with us so I was pleased she got the opportunity to play and represent GB Universities in this friendly competition.”
With only a month left before preseason starts for the university performance tennis members Sofie will be bringing great momentum back to the club and we look forward to following Liv’s tennis career as she progresses as an Alumna.
