EULFC Breast Cancer Awareness

EULFC at their Breast Cancer Awareness tournament

EULFC: Record membership numbers, inclusive events, and fundraising success!

The year has most certainly started off well for all 51 of our AU clubs, but we cannot let Exeter University Ladies Football Club go unoticed for all their hardwork so far this season. The club has had a record amount of membership sign up's - with interest across our BUCS, futsal, Sunday League and social options therefore, seeing a 50% increase in numbers from the 2020/21 year! Club captain, Simone, has given us her breakdown of the year so far...

Term 1 has seen nothing but positivity from EULFC! The club has made an incredible impact in taking action for issues and causes in a wider scope, too. Our Development Officer, Emilia Rahaus, put in great efforts across the month of October raising awareness and money for breast cancer. She organised a brilliant fundraising football tournament for all EULFC members as well as a stash raffle with all profits going to Breast Cancer Now. As well as this, Emilia has also organised a Saturday Social Football league for women and non binary students in societies and clubs across the uni, which is really helping boost even further participation in football. Well done Emilia!

Sally McKendry has also been working incredibly hard as our EDI officer. In light of October being Black History Month, Sally collaborated with EULCC, EUWRC, EUWBC, lacrosse and BIPOC society to put together an incredible mixed sports tournament to raise awareness about BHM, show our clubs' solidarity against racism & raise money for Show Racism The Red Card. Well done to all! Furthermore, Sally has also put in great efforts to provide opportunities for disability sport at Exeter uni. EULFC now have very strong links with ECCT's parafootball coaches and as a result Sally provided the university's first parafootball session! This is brilliant progress for inclusivity and equality in the uni's sporting opportunities and we're very excited to collaborate with more clubs to hold a mixed Parasports event in early December!

Special mention also to our Club Sec, Eve Calder, who has not only provided the club with stash, kit and reusable bottles using only sustainable sources and brands, but she has also created amazing content across all of EULFC's social medias. She has put together useful info graphs, taken brilliant photos and made some fabulous vlogs documenting EULFC's term so far. Take a look at our instagram: @eulfc1 and our Youtube: EULFC Vlogs.

On top of all of this EULFC has shown success on the field and futsal court, too. The 1s & 2s 11 aside BUCS as well as our futsal 1s BUCs teams have all gone unbeaten in the season so far, with excellent football and futsal being played in every fixture. As a club we're super proud of everything we have achieved so far and are sure the success will only continue from here!

Simone Williams (EULFC Club Captain)

On behalf of Exeter Sport, we cannot congratulate EULFC enough for all their continued hard work on and off the pitch, and we are very proud to have a group so commited to EDI.
