Awareness Month Round-up: November and December

In November, we saw all 52 AU clubs unite for men’s mental health. The University of Exeter is renowned for its fundraising efforts, evidenced in topping this year’s Movember national leader board yet again. Fundraising totals came out to £102,702.97, with Men’s Football, Men’s Cricket, and the Hockey Club topping the university’s internal fundraising leaderboard.

University of Exeter Men’s and Women’s Hockey squads have partnered with STATSports, the world’s leading company in GPS technology, as a performance supplier for the 2022-2023 season.

Three scholars represent GB in the Sultan of Johor Cup

Three University of Exeter hockey players travelled to Malaysia this October to represent Great Britain U21’s in the Sultan of Johor Cup to come home with a bronze medal.

Recapping September's disability awareness month, introducing Black History Month

For our first awareness month, our clubs set a precedent for the year of inclusivity and started up accessibility sessions for opportunities in disability sport. EURL score high, receiving funding in time for the RLWC

Our University of Exeter Rugby League club have received funding from the CreatedBy RLWC2021 capital grants programme, to improve the environments where Rugby League takes place; giving people more and better opportunities to engage with the game and to get active. The funding will allow the purchase of equipment that create environments that are accessible, welcoming and build a legacy of the 2021 tournament in our university and local communities.

UOE Staff Barbarians are back!

On Monday the 20th of June, the University of Exeter staff football team took on Atass in a friendly football game on the rubber crumb. Staff were allowed to take time off to compete in the closely contested match, with Atass just coming out on top!

This Girl Can Campaign 2022

February was another great month of campaigning for University of Exeter's Student Sport team. Across the 51 AU clubs, as well as Guild societies, students ran taster sessions, fundraising events, as well as using their social media platforms to spread awareness and celebrate women in sport. The Athletic Union President, Katy Dalglish, gives us her overview of the success of this years 'This Girl Can' campaign. 

Karate BUCS Success

BUCS Karate Championships took place on the 12th-13th of March, 2022 at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. It was a very successful weekend for University of Exeter Karate team who took home all three types of medals. Club captain, Emma Nemeti-Chipkes gives us the run down of the weekend.

The University of Exeter Coach Development Centre in collaboration with Tennis Cornwall and the Lawn Tennis Association hosted the 2022 Cornwall Coach Conference. Over 50 tennis coaches from around the country attended the event at Newquay's Heron Tennis Centre, which comprised of various workshops and seminars from industry experts.

EURFC take Sandy Park by storm with a 27-14 victory over Cardiff Met.

Back at Sandy Park for the first time 20 months, a clinical second-half performance saw Exeter pull clear, with a double from Kofi Barton-Byfield and a further score from replacement Jack Potter adding to Eddie Bullock’s first half effort to seal the victory in front of an electric crowd!

Exeter netball high performance athletes have not failed to score high this season, with another international selection under their belts. First year student, Ella Porter has landed her place in the Wales U21 squad for the netball europe series in the Isle of Man.

Dodgeball becomes AU club number 51

Green Glory-Exeter take best in the South of England and Wales
