Performance Hockey Coach (Men)

Summary of the role

The University of Exeter Hockey Club are looking to appoint a Men’s 2nd Team Head Coach to help deliver within an already successful Hockey Programme. The Hockey Club is one of the largest and most successful sports at the university as well as nationwide. The Hockey Club was ranked no.1 in the 23-24 BUCS Season as well as compete in the England Hockey League at Division One South and West Conference.

Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for the delivery of the Men’s 2nd Team Training as well as attending fixtures. Ideally home and away in both their BUCS League as well as their EHL West Conference League.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • To deliver training to the Men’s second team on Mondays for 2 hours between the hours of 17:00-19:00 and Thursday for 2 hours between the hours of 20:00-22:00. There are opportunities for technical sessions in 1:1 and small group settings.
  • To review and analyse both the team’s performance and scouting opponents with the use of video via our Hudl Platform.
  • To attend and provide match day support at fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
  • To work effectively with other members of support staff such as S&C staff, Physiotherapists, Managers and Sports Science Interns to maximise their areas of expertise and to deliver the most effective programme possible.
  • Work closely with the Players and the Head of Hockey whilst maintaining positive links between opposition clubs, England
  • Hockey and British University & Colleges Sport. (BUCS).

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • The ability to fulfil the role that has been outlined above, and the knowledge and experience to run the teams successfully.
  • ACP / Level 2 Coaching Qualification.
  • 2 Years coaching experience, within a team environment.
  • Current First Aid qualification or ability to obtain prior to post commencing.
  • Current Safeguarding qualification or ability to obtain prior to post commencing.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the technical and tactical elements of the game as well as a sound understanding of a performance programme within an educational setting.

Desirable 

  • Level 3 or Masters in Coaching
  • Previous experience of coaching at Conference Level and in BUCS / University Setting.

Pilates Instructor

Summary of the role

University of Exeter Sport runs an extensive fitness class offering within our gym facilities at the Russel Seal Fitness Centre and St Luke’s Sports Centre.

We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic Pilates instructor to join our Fitness Class team to take Pilates classes at various days and times within our timetable. Instructor availability will be considered when creating fitness class timetables.

Our fitness classes engage our student, staff and community members as well as non-members. This is an exciting opportunity to instruct to full and vibrant classes of all kinds of people.

The successful applicant will require a Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor qualification or similar and right to work in the UK.

Your primary role will be to teach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water.
