Active Office Challenge
Got a Fitbit, jawbone, Misfit or any other activity tracking device? Alternatively do you use a Garmin, have a Strava account or use nike+? If the answer is yes - why not get involved in the University of Exeter Active Offices Challenge?
Using activity tracking technology we want to find out which college, department or office have the most get up and go when it comes to being active.
With our sedentary work life and people not leaving their desk for long periods of the day, we want to encourage staff to get up and move more. This could be something as simple as:
- Dropping a letter down the corridor instead of via internal mail.
- Going to speak to someone instead of phoning or emailing
- Taking the stairs instead of the lifts.
- Having a walking meeting
- Taking a lunchtime walk.
- Getting of the bus a stop earlier on the way to work.
Designed for all of the University of Exeter community and powered by HiMOTIV, the Active office web app enables you to sync your fitness trackers or wearable technology to earn points every time you exercise. For a list of the rewards schemes available with partners including Sainsbury’s, Graze , runnersneed, MYPROTEIN, Crew Clothing Co. and many more please view the HiMOTIV site.
There is a simple SIGN UP process that you must complete using your University of Exeter email address and then you can simply link your fitness tracking technology to the site.
Additionally, in order to motivate your colleagues you can send challenges and invites to friends, colleagues and other departments nearby to really to take the stairs instead of the lift, complete a number of steps challenge per day, week or month.
So if you're up for it - today is the day that we collectively create a positive culture of work based activity and start living healthier, more active lifestyles.
