Social Sport

The University of Exeter is extremely proud of its levels of sporting engagement within the student population as a whole, with sports forming an integral part of a student’s University experience. The Athletic Union's social sports programme caters to students who cannot commit to regular weekly sporting activities and is open to students of all abilities, no matter their sporting experience.

Mo-Sista Sports Tournament  3 December 09:00-13:30


This event is designed to encourage female students, no matter what ability level, to get involved in sport and have fun. All suggested donations of £5 per person will be given to the Movember charity. The event will occur between 09:00-13:30 in the Sports Hall and the Rubber Crumb.

People can enter in teams of seven to ten, or come by themselves, to play netball, dodgeball, six aside football and touch rugby. There will be freebies given out to all who enter and prizes for the winning teams. Anyone interested can sign up by going to, searching “University of Exeter Athletic Union Mo-Sista Tournament” and RSVP-ing themselves or their team!”

January  Time Table

It's Mental Health Awareness month at the University of Exeter, 

At a time of deadlines, exams and new subjects, the strains on all of our mental health can be large and tough to cope with. 

The Athletic Union and the Guild want to help you combat your stress levels, and help you identify when you or someone you know might need help. We're working with our clubs and societies to hold a number of different events throughout January to support you!

Sessions are free of charge, just turn up on the day and time of your chosen session! 
UV Sports Month February & March Time

The Athletic Union are hosting a months worth of UV sports and fitness classes available to all students! Students are welcome to join any of these free UV sport sessions no matter their experience in that activity! Just turn up on the day of the activity of your choice - active wear recommended and bring as much glow in the dark accessorries as you like (except UV paint as this is not permitted due to damage to the sports park facilities).

AU Olympics TBC TBC This year the Athletics Club are bringing back the AU Olympics! An evening filled with fun games where clubs and teams can come together to raise awareness (and money) for mental health. There will be a showcase of a variety of activities testing your athletic abilities and team work skills. We will then be celebrating the night in TP. 

Teams consist of 8 people (or more). If you do not have a team but would still like to take part we can put you in a team.

FA Peoples Cup Sunday 25 February 10-4pm

The #FAPeoplesCup is back! Enter your team today to play in the University category. It’s fun, it’s free, it’s five-a-side!

Grecian Shield 25 March  9-4pm

We are excited to announce that the annual Grecian Shield 6-a-side tournament will take place on Sunday 25th March. The day will begin at 9.30 with registration taking place on the Rubber Crumb but matches being played across both the crumb and sand astro. We recommend a maximum squad of 9 players with every team playing groups games and the top 4 from each group qualifying for knockout fixtures. 

Entry into the tournament is £20 (team maximum 9 players) and you must register your team at the Athletic Union office with either Sarah Bishton or Jim Balshaw (Sports Park, Streatham Campus). This must be done by Wednesday 21st March. Team entries are on a first come first served basis with payment being made when registering. Contact for more information. 

We appreciate your studies are important to you, which may be the main reason you’ve chosen Exeter University. However, the Athletic Union also believe that taking time away from your studies to relax and remain healthy in body and mind is also essential, and what better way to do this than by getting involved in social physical activity with a unique UV twist? This is why throughout February and March the Athletic Union are hosting an array of UV physical activities, all free of charge to students!

All you need to do is turn up on the day at the allocated time and get involved (bring your best neon active wear, failing this UV sport bibs are provided! Unfortunately no UV paint will be allowed on site due to damage to sports park facilities). The indoor cycling session you will need to register through the link provided below due to limited availability of bikes.

Celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Dog and get active with University of Exeter student sport! During this time, the Athletic Union are hosting free activities to all students to encourage students to get physically active!

We understand studies are important, but we also know that taking a break from studies is just as important for optimum health and well-being. That is why the Athletic Union is offering a variety of free physical activties for International students from 21st February - 2nd March. Taking part in physical activity is a great way to get active and a chance to socialise in your free time. All equipment is provided and each session is student lead. All you need to do is attend on the day!

Join us and try something new or simply participate in casual and social physical activity.

Free court time to enjoy playing badminton! With 8 badminton courts available there is enough space for students to come along and practice singles or doubles! It is free to attend, just turn up on the day and sign in the register! No previous experience necessary and all abilities are welcome.

Ever wanted to try Table Tennis or already have some playing experience? The AU Table Tennis club are welcoming all students to their open courts/ training session.

Friendly members of the club will be on hand to teach beginners and for some coaching advice to those with a little more experience. More importantly you can attend the session and just simply play some Table Tennis for free!

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Sound appealing? Then come along to this free session where the AU 
Taekwondo club will be on hand to show you the ropes! All free of charge, just turn up on the day and sign in the register.


At the University of Exeter we are proud to have a 50:50 split in male and female participation in physical activity across our AU clubs, intramural programme and gym memberships.

As we continue to offer free and open sessions to all students this term, it’s now also time to showcase and celebrate our women's fantastic contributions, achievements and involvement in sport and physical activity. The Athletic Union are inviting all female students to participate in a range of activities from fitness classes and taster sessions to swimming and social runs. 

Join us and get involved by participating in physical activity and sharing your experience through social media. We encourage all students to increase the media coverage of women in sport and physical activity and ask you to send in your photographs to the Student Sport Facebook and Twitter account using the hashtag #PressForProgress
