Exeter Big BUCS Wednesday hopes with Women’s Lacrosse 2s

The University of Exeter Women’s Lacrosse 2nd team head to Big BUCS Wednesday where they take on University of Manchester Women’s 1st team in the BUCS Trophy final.

Running out as league winners of Western 1A, with 9 wins and just 1 lost all season, Exeter Lacrosse 2nd team are hoping to complete the league and cup double as they fight for gold in Nottingham on Wednesday 21st March. Reflecting on the season to date Women’s Lacrosse 2nd team captains Alex Crowther and Leonora Bell commented “After such a positive season, winning all but one of our league matches, we are excited and confident heading into the final. Next Wednesday we'll be heading into the match with the best team we could possibly ask for. Having had three years of amazing lacrosse at University, to reach the finals in our last year is the best end to our lacrosse careers we could have asked for. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us achieve such phenomenal results this season, and hope to do everyone proud in the final”.

Lacrosse is one of the University of Exeter’s 9 focus sports and is part of the High Performance Programme. With 4 women’s teams and 2 men’s teams playing in British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues, Exeter have consistently been ranked in the top 3 of University institutions for lacrosse in the BUCS Sport rankings. Current lacrosse Sports Scholars have international representative honours and notable alumni include Sophy Coombes-Roberts who represented Wales Seniors at the World Cup last summer.

From all of us at University of Exeter Sport we would like to congratulate the Women’s Lacrosse 2nd team on their fantastic season to date. Making it the 2nd year in a row for a Women’s Lacrosse team to make a final following the BUCS Championship Silver for the Women’s Lacrosse 1st team last year we will be the 2s can go one better and bring home the BUCS Gold.
