Girls with their U23 pennant

EUBC Girls take U23 Championship

After an eventful journey up there, the girls had their pre-race paddle, and then Anna Newton and Ellie Hayes were first to boat for the 2x time trial.

Seeing that this is a tough category, they got into the E/F semis. Then an unfortunate start in the semis as well as a failed re start attempt meant that they were into the F final. In their final, they won easily and had their best race of the day.

Also in the 2x time trial, but racing in the light weight category, were Izzy Lingard and Susannah Duncan. Putting in a quick time for their first race together they were second in their category. Unfortunately, a persistent chest infection that Susannah was unable to shake in the run up to the race meant that they had to pull out. Watch this space for lots more to see from these girls!

Last but not least were the W4- of Seun Olusanya, Alex Flynn, Kristi Stone and Isabel Cole. Again, a relaxed and strong time trial put them into a good semi. In the first side-by-side race of the season, they got off to a wobbly start in the semis, but still qualified for the A final. As the only U23 crew in the A final they won the U23 pennant. The final was the best the girls had rowed together all season, coming in a strong 5th in the open category.

Congratulations to all those that competed and we look forward to seeing more medals in the future.
