We have a varied Wellness programme.

The Big Bright Bike Ride is one of our Wellness activities and encourages cyclists to make themselves as visible as possible during the dark winter months.

We hold regular courses to help you give up smoking.

Health and wellness programme

The health and wellness programme provides a range of physical activities, workshops, awareness days and fairs for staff and students at the University.

Activities take place throughout the year at the University and enable staff and students to learn more about health issues and participate in some form of activity.

Ideas or suggestions are always welcomed.  Please contact the Sports and Wellness Development Officer - Paul Mouland on 01392 722039.

The wellness scheme has been kindly sponsored by Russell Seal.

Health testing days

The Sports Park staff can visit your department to deliver a free health testing day for staff.

The tests are very simple and don't require any running around or clothing changes. These tests are also very quick and discrete.

Healthy Halls

The Healthy Halls scheme provides activities, workshops and events for students in University residences aimed at improving their health and increasing their awareness of wellbeing.

Activities are either free or are heavily subsidised and take place across the residences. You don’t have to live in the residence where the event is being held in order to take part.

The scheme was launched by the Sports Park in association with the Annual Fund.

Virtual Gym TV

VirtualGymTV (VGTV) gives you the luxury of professional fitness instructors in your own home.

The free service offers classes such as step aerobics, strengthen and tone, spinergy, martial arts training sessions and much more – all in the comfort of your living room.

Wellbeing Week

Each academic year we deliver a week of wellness activities and workshops for free.

This gives the students and staff the opportunity to experience activities they may not have had the opportunity to pursue.

Previous activities include holistic yoga, African drumming, meditation, wellbeing workshops, Homeopathy drop-in sessions, Zero Balancing and a personal safety and self defence class.

Have a healthy body and mind

We promote schemes to help maintain your wellbeing in body and mind.

Mental health referral scheme

The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) and the Sports office are working together on a scheme that utilises exercise as a treatment for mild mental health problems. Please contact the DRC for more information.

Occupational health

Occupational health (OH) is about preventing ill-health at work with the focus being on promoting and maintaining physical, mental and social wellbeing at work. Occupational health practitioners help facilitate the recovery of staff back to favourable health and wellbeing. Visit the OH website for full details.
