The Sir Christopher Ondaatje Devon Cricket Centre
The Sir Christopher Ondaatje [external link] Devon Cricket Centre gives players from the University and community the opportunity to improve their game.
Facilities include
- Four full length nets (38 metres long).
- 800 square metre playing area.
- Indoor cricket nets.
- Video analysis.
- Bowling machines.
- 1750 lux lighting.
- High performance flooring system.
- One-on-one and group coaching sessions for children and adults.
The centre accommodates the Devon Cricket Board (DCB) offices, and is also used by the University of Exeter’s student cricket club, Exeter College Academy the DCB indoor cricket league and many local clubs.
Hiring the facilities
You can hire the centre on a pay and play basis or make a block booking.
The centre is available for:
- General public sessions.
- Indoor six-a-side games.
- Hire by cricket clubs, teams and companies.

History
The Sir Christopher Ondaatje Devon Cricket Centre was opened in 2009 by former England great Mike Gatting.
The England and Wales Cricket Board gave £1.5 million funding from the Club Community Development Programme, which is made up of exchequer funding and managed by Sport England.
Sir Christopher Ondaatje generously donated £250,000 and the centre is named in his honour.
Further grants were from the Devon Cricket Board [external link], MCC [external link], Lords Taverners [external link], Devon County Cricket Club and the Tony Coles Trust.
