Max Stedman Riding for professional team Canyon Eisberg
Max Stedman Rides out for GB U23s in UCI 2.2 Tour Alsace
Whilst competing against some of the top road cycling teams on the circuit, the 5 staged event saw Max finish in the top 50 of Elite riders every time with a General Classification finish of 12th out of 116!
The course is a 2.2 UCI (Union Cycliste International) classification, meaning that it is a multi-stage race where professional and national teams can race. In contrast the infamous Tour De France sits at the top of classifications as a UCI World Tour event, where only World Teams and ‘wild card’ professional continental teams can compete. Competiting for Great Britain U23s in this race is a huge accolade and performance measure for Max which shows how well he is progressing. Max was extremely excited to be involved and commented prior to the race that “it takes in some big climbs and is obviously a hugely exciting event to be involved in and you never know what doors it may open up in the future...”
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the governing body of cycling, categorises teams into three divisions. The top 18 teams are the UCI World Teams and compete in the UCI World Tour. The second and third divisions respectively are the Professional Continental teams and the Continental teams.
Max recently commented on his performance “It’s pretty much all good news recently, my trade team (UCI Continental British Professional Team Canyon Eisberg @canyoneisberg) has qualified for the Tour Of Britain. The route takes in a lot of my training roads from the last 4 years, so it will be a mega experience all round and one that I can’t wait for on the day…” This year’s Stage 2 will be starting from Cranbrook, Exeter and ending in Barnstaple meaning that there will be plenty of local support to cheer the recent Alumni on. Max will be competing against the likes of Team Sky, Great Britain and BMC Racing Team putting him under the microscope for performance amongst the best in the world.

We look forward to watching the race unfold on Monday 3rd September and watch Max along his old training routes!
